Welcome and thank you for your consideration to becoming a member of the Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department. New applicants are asked to print and fill out the application and Criminal background to the right or stop by the station and pick up an application in person. All completed applications are asked to be submitted in person to the Bellmore Fire Station.

No experience is needed. We offer four membership categories; Active Member, Out-of-district Member, Associate member and Cadet.

Active members are the backbone of our department and members in this category are required to live in the response area. These members are expected to complete 24 hours of duty per quarter. These members are required to attend at least 1 meeting and 1 training a quarter.

 

 

Out-of-district members are members that live outside the first due. We currently have active members who travel from Indianapolis. These members are expected to complete 36 hours of duty per quarter. These members are required to attend at least 1 meeting and 1 training a quarter. We prefer that Out-of-district members be certified with Firefighter I and Hazmat Operations but no training is required to apply. Training and certifications will be provided once you become a member.

Associate members can live inside or outside the response area. Also they require no training. These members work with and assist Active members and Out-of-district members at fundraisers, public relations events, birthday parties, and during and after large scale incidents. These members can also transition to a Active member or Out-of-district member positions if they desire.

Cadet Members are between the ages of 14 and 18. Have you ever wondered what its like to be a firefighter?  Join other high school students who are members of our Cadet firefighter program to find out.  With proper training, you can respond to emergency incidents side by side with our volunteer firefighters.
